VALERIE HOUCEK
When I first heard about this opportunity to go to Mexico and live with the people and study their art, I just knew that I had to go! I don’t want to learn about art through text books or by looking at pictures, I want to experience it first hand. That is exactly what this trip offered me. I truly feel that I have had a life-changing experience.
PEGGY CLINE
I went on the Oaxaca trip with my daughter, Lara. I enjoyed meeting the artists in their homes and experiencing Oaxaca first hand. I grew up in Atlanta and now live on a small farm in Paulding county with my husband, son, and many animals. I went to UGA and GA State in art and have worked in advertising and art education for the past 23 years.
LARA JEANNERET
Hi! I am Lara Jeanneret, a Senior Graphic Design student at KSU. This trip was a truly awesome experience for me, and I really think that I was able to grow more not only as an artist, but also as a person. The experiences I had while in Oaxaca are ones I will never forget, and I am so happy that I had the opportunity to go on this trip.
CAROLE MAUGE-LEWIS
I simply could not turn down the opportunity to accompany students in the Visual Arts on their study abroad trip to Oaxaca. I was also looking forward not only to teaching 2 courses, but also sharpening my Spanish speaking skills. The richness of Oaxacan culture and the knowledgeable guided tours made this an opportunity to remember.
KEVIN MAUGE-LEWIS
Hello, My name is Kevin Mauge-Lewis. I am a student at Palmer Middle School. After this summer I will be in 8th grade. I live in Kennesaw with my parents. I accompanied my mom on this trip to spend time with my mom and so that I can be exposed to the Spanish culture. I have always enjoyed going on trips and going to Oaxaca was a great one.
ROSIE KUNATH
Traveling to Oaxaca is an extension of my heritage. Sharing my knowledge of the Latin culture as a Latin artist and translator for the Study Abroad Trip to Oaxaca, Mexico gave me an opportunity to become a part of a family of young artists with whom I feel I will always be connected.
HANK KUNATH
Currently an Assistant Professor of Art, College of Visual Arts, KSU. Early in my university studies, relationships were developed through dedicated faculty that made all the difference. Their openness and availability created a bond, that I use as a teacher to this day.
BRANDON KNIGHT
What’s up? My name is Brandon Knight. I am an Art Education major from Calhoun and this is my last semester at Kennesaw State. Some way to go huh? I have been at Kennesaw State for 2 years now and I regretted missing out on the trip last year. The culture, art, artists, and atmosphere are truly incredible in Oaxaca. This trip was a life changing experience.
BRANDON CRAWFORD
Brandon was born in Houston, Texas, raised in Nashville, Tennessee, and has lived in Georgia for the past ten years. She owns a great dog, has remarkable friends, paints because she sure can’t sing, and sees every new day as an opportunity to do things better than the one before.
JERRY SEGERS, JR.
I'm a senior graphic design major who is determined to learn every lesson life presents. This is the first time I've been out of the US, and now I'm addicted. For this study abroad, my classes were web design, and mesoamerican art history, but I value the insights into interpersonal relations much more.
GUNDA PERRY
After helping my 3 children through college I decided to reenter KSU and study art history, painting, drawing and sculpture.
